During the winter months, the park comes alive with thousands of waterfowl, raptors, storks, pelicans, cranes, and numerous species of ducks that migrate from Central Asia, Siberia, and beyond. With over 370 recorded bird species, Bharatpur offers exceptional opportunities for close sightings and photography, whether exploring on foot, by cycle rickshaw, or by bicycle.
Its network of wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands supports an incredible variety of birdlife, making every visit a rewarding experience. From colorful kingfishers and bee-eaters to majestic eagles and owls, Bharatpur promises unforgettable birding in one of India’s most celebrated avian sanctuaries.
Day 1: Arrive in Bharatpur and check in to your hotel. After lunch and some time to relax, head to Keoladeo National Park for your first bird photography session. The evening light provides excellent opportunities to photograph resident waterbirds, storks, herons, kingfishers, and other species as they return to their roosts. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2 and 3: Start the day before sunrise with an early morning bird photography session in Keoladeo National Park. Spend the entire day exploring the park’s diverse wetlands and woodland habitats, photographing a wide variety of resident and migratory birds. Packed breakfast and lunch will be enjoyed inside the park, allowing you to maximize your time in the field. Return to the hotel after sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Head out for a final early morning photography session. After breakfast, return to the hotel, complete the check-out formalities, and depart for your onward journey with wonderful memories and an extensive collection of bird photographs.
