Nestled along the border of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, Pench Tiger Reserve is one of India’s most celebrated wildlife destinations and is widely believed to have inspired Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. Named after the Pench River that flows through the reserve, the park is characterized by picturesque teak forests, rolling hills, open meadows, and serene water bodies that support an extraordinary diversity of wildlife.
Home to a healthy population of Bengal tigers, Pench also shelters leopards, Indian wild dogs (dholes), sloth bears, gaur, jackals, hyenas, and a wide variety of deer species, including chital and sambar. The reserve is equally renowned among bird enthusiasts, with more than 300 recorded bird species, making it an excellent destination for both wildlife and birdwatching.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival and Afternoon Safari. Overnight in Pench
Arrive at your lodge in Pench by around 12:00 PM and complete the check-in formalities. After a delicious lunch and some time to relax, head out for your first jeep safari into the beautiful forests of Pench Tiger Reserve. Explore its diverse landscapes in search of tigers, leopards, wild dogs (dholes), sloth bears, gaur, deer, and a remarkable variety of birdlife. Return to the lodge in the evening for high tea, followed by dinner. Spend the evening sharing wildlife sightings and memorable experiences with fellow travelers before retiring for the night.
Day 2 – Morning & Afternoon Safaris
Begin the day before sunrise with tea or coffee and depart for an early morning jeep safari. The fresh morning hours provide excellent opportunities to observe wildlife as the forest awakens. Enjoy a packed breakfast during the safari before returning to the lodge to relax. After lunch, set out once again for an afternoon safari, exploring a different zone of Pench Tiger Reserve to maximize your chances of wildlife sightings. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and unwind while exchanging stories and highlights from the day’s adventures.
Day 3 – Morning Safari and departure
Start your final day with an early morning safari, making the most of one last opportunity to experience the rich biodiversity of Pench Tiger Reserve. After the safari, return to the lodge for breakfast, complete the check-out formalities, and depart for your onward journey with unforgettable memories of thrilling wildlife encounters and the enchanting forests that inspired The Jungle Book.
