Located in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) is the State’s oldest and largest national park.Marked by mostly dry deciduous vegetation, some parts of Tadoba comprise patches of moist deciduous forest. Boasting a varied species of animals and birds such as tigers, leopards, dholes (wild dogs), and the mottled wood-owl and nightjars, this park also harbors a variety of reptiles and amphibians.Visitors make a beeline to Tadoba during the summer months to spot its much sought-after denizen, the Bengal Tiger. On top of everyone’s list, the tigers of Tadoba are a major draw for photographers and tourists alike, attracting people from across the globe to catch a glimpse of the elusive cat.An added advantage is that the safaris in the buffer zone in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve are as good as the core zones, offering one of the best chances of tiger sightings in India, explains Harsha.This gives the visitors another reason to visit Tadoba, especially when some of the other reserves are closed for the monsoon.Besides tigers, Tadoba is a treasure trove of other animals. Be it the muscular gaur, the shy striped hyena, the small Indian civet, or jungle cats, the drives into the jungle have something to offer for everyone.That said, Tadoba offers a good chance to glimpse sloth bears, chausingha, and mugger or marsh crocodiles. If this isn’t a good enough reason to visit Tadoba, the opportunity to wait by the Andhari River or the Tadoba Lake, listening to the bird calls amid the beautiful landscape should be reason enough!
Itinerary
The tour commences on Day 1 at Tadoba at 12:00 PM and concludes on Day 4 at 11:00 AM
Day 1 – Arrival and Afternoon Safari | Overnight in Tadoba
Arrive at your lodge in Tadoba by around 12:00 PM and complete the check-in formalities. After a delicious lunch and some time to relax, head out for your first exciting jeep safari into the wilderness of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. Explore the rich forests in search of tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs, gaur, deer, and a variety of birdlife. Return to the lodge in the evening for high tea, followed by dinner. End the day by sharing wildlife sightings and experiences with fellow travelers before retiring for the night.
Day 2 – Morning & Afternoon Safaris | Overnight in Tadoba
Begin your day before sunrise with tea or coffee and depart for an early morning jeep safari. The cool morning hours offer excellent opportunities to spot wildlife as the forest comes alive with activity. Enjoy a packed breakfast during the safari before returning to the lodge to relax. After lunch, set out once again for an afternoon safari, exploring a different zone of the reserve to maximize wildlife sightings. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and spend the rest of the evening exchanging stories and memorable moments from the day’s adventures.
Day 3 – Morning Safari | Departure
Start your final day with an early morning safari, making the most of one last opportunity to experience the magic of Tadoba’s wilderness. After the safari, return to the lodge for breakfast, complete the check-out formalities, and depart for your onward journey with unforgettable memories of thrilling wildlife encounters and the natural beauty of Tadoba.
